We are excited to announce five $1,000 scholarships in memory of Heather Blackwelder. It is a privilege for us to provide these scholarships as a way to give back to our community and uphold the wonderful legacy that she left behind. We encourage all Forsyth County Seniors Students to apply and be part of this meaningful opportunity.
This scholarship is created in memory of Heather Alana Blackwelder who was killed in an automobile accident in June of 2020. Heather was a 21-year-old President's List student at Kennesaw State University heading into her final year. She earned her cosmetology degree at West Forsyth High School in Forsyth County and worked as a licensed stylist at Salon Next Door in Woodstock throughout her college career. Though her life was short lived, Heather excelled in all she put her mind to and connected with people by making them feel seen, heard and cared for. We hope that her story will inspire you to work hard, follow your passions and cultivate an impactful life.
Heather was a young lady of character and integrity. She demonstrated eyes for others in the way she loved and interacted joyfully with those around her. She allowed that to impact not only how she defined success but also her pursuit of it.
Please write an essay sharing how your specific involvement, character, and leadership demonstrates seeing and serving others. In addition, please share how looking outside yourself impacts your definition of success and informs your future pursuits.
